Skills are pre-built SEO workflows designed for AI assistants. Each Skill provides your AI tool with a step-by-step playbook for completing common SEO tasks using Zutrix data β like running a full SEO audit, generating a keyword research report, or analyzing your competitors.
Think of Skills as expert templates that tell your AI exactly what to do, what data to pull, and how to present the results.
π Getting Started with Skills
Prerequisites
Before using Skills, make sure you have:
β Zutrix MCP Server installed and configured (see [How to use MCP Server?])
β An active Zutrix account with an API key
β An AI tool that supports MCP (Claude, Cursor, VS Code, etc.)
Step 1: Browse Available Skills
Visit the Skills repository on GitHub to see all available workflows:
Each Skill has its own folder with a SKILL.md file that contains the full workflow instructions.
Step 2: Use a Skill
There are two ways to use Skills with your AI tool:
Option A: Copy & Paste
Open the Skill you want to use on GitHub.
Copy the contents of the
SKILL.mdfile.Paste it into your AI tool's conversation.
The AI will follow the workflow step by step, calling the appropriate Zutrix MCP tools.
Option B: Reference Directly
If your AI tool supports fetching URLs, simply share the Skill link:
"Follow this SEO audit workflow: [link to SKILL.md]"
The AI will read the Skill and execute it automatically.

π Creating Custom Skills
Skills are just markdown files with structured instructions. You can create your own by following this format:
--- name: My Custom Skill description: A brief description of what this skill does version: "1.0" author: Your Name tags: [seo, custom] ---
Then write step-by-step instructions telling the AI:
What data to fetch (which MCP tools to call)
How to analyze the results
How to present the findings
Save it as a SKILL.md file and share it with your team or the community.
π‘ Tips for Best Results
Provide context β When running a Skill, include your project name or domain so the AI knows which data to pull.
Combine Skills β You can run multiple Skills in sequence. For example, start with a Competitor Analysis, then follow up with Keyword Research based on the gaps found.
Customize output β After a Skill runs, ask follow-up questions to drill deeper into specific findings.
Share with your team β Skills work the same way for anyone on your team who has MCP Server configured.
